  • Primary Purpose:

    • Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

    Qualifications:

    • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
    • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
    • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

    Experience:

    • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. 
    • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
    • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
    • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
    • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.

    Student Growth and Development:

    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
    • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
    • Classroom Management and Organization
    • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

    Communication:

    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

    Professional Growth and Development:

    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Description:

    A diagnostician willing to serve the Northwest Texas Shared Service Arrangement for special education services. NWTSSA proudly serves ten school districts: Adrian, Channing, Gruver, Hartley, Stratford, Sunray, Texhoma, Texline, Vega, and Wildorado. The home office is based at Sunray ISD in Sunray, Texas. The diagnostician would be assigned to certain districts/campuses served by NWTSSA.

    The diagnostician will assess the educational abilities, learning styles, and program needs of students referred for special education services and re-evaluate those who are currently served when required. They will work collaboratively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate instructional programs for student with disabilities. 

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine eligibility for special education services according to federal and Texas Education Agency regulations.
    • Compile and evaluate comprehensive student information including classroom observations; personal interviews with student(s), teacher(s), and others; and relevant assessment data from the student’s cumulative folder. Consult with parental figures and teachers concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
    • Provide support and training for teachers, staff and parental figures to address and manage children with challenging behaviors.
    • Work directly with students, school staff members, and parental figures to support behavioral and academic growth.
    • Participate in Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students according to district procedures and regulations.
    • Ensure confidentiality is maintained.
    • Summarize/write reports regarding students following evaluations and presenting the information to those in need to know in a manner that they are able to fully understand
    • Analyze transfer student’s IEPs from other states/school districts
    • Compile and interpret data from multiple sources
    • Seek out and attend conferences/trainings to remain knowledgeable and up to date in their area of expertise

    Requirements:

    • Master’s Degree in Educational Evaluation/Assessment
    • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
    • Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate
    • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students with a wide variety of disabilities, knowledge of human development, and knowledge of learning theories and best practices
    • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local laws, guidelines, procedures; including special education
    • Ability to assess students with a variety of needs
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Skilled in effectively supporting a classroom and student behavior(s)
    • Skilled in working in collaborative team-based environments
    • Skilled in working with technology including but not limited to: email, internet, word processing, Esped/Frontline, and spreadsheets
    • Knowledge and sensitivity to the impact of diversity issues as related to student achievement and mental and behavioral health
    • Willingness to travel to all districts served through NWTSSA
    • Remain calm in stressful moments while defusing situations where a party of the ARD meeting is in disagreement
    • Ability to effectively state why changes in a child’s educational program are necessary for growth
    • Knowledge of transition services and preparation
    • Valid Texas Drivers License
    • Ability to commute daily
    • Willingness and ability to drive to provide services/support to any of the 10 districts in our SSA (see list of districts in description) as needed or on a regular basis from your home and/or assigned office district- mileage to be paid from your office district- SSA coverage includes districts form I-40 to the New Mexico/Oklahoma borders (6 counties: Dallam, Sherman, Hansford, Hartley, Moore, and Oldham)

  • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    Prefer High school diploma or GED 
    Must have a class B-CDL Driver License or willing to get endorsement
    Must have good driving record.
     
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching 
    Work outside and inside, with exposure to all types of weather and noise
     

    EXPERIENCE: 

    Bus Driver - Prefer at least 1-2 years of CDL driving experience but not required

  • Position Hours:  Full-time; Monday – Friday
    Length of Term/Employment:  190 days / At-will
    Reports to:  Superintendent
    Position Mission:  Supervise, train, and manage campus food service operation.  Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served.  Meet time constraints set by menu requirements established by Central Office administration.  Meet health codes.

    Position Minimum Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:
    A high school diploma or GED preferred.
    ServSafe Manager Certification or be able to obtain certification

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation.
    Ability to manage personnel.
    Effective planning and organizational skills.
     
    Job Duties:
    Cafeteria Management:
    Produce and maintain work schedules and production records.
    Direct daily activities in kitchen and cafeteria.
    Maintain all serving schedules and serve all food items according to menu specifications defined by departmental policies and procedures.

    Supervise and train employees at campus level, promoting efficiency, morale, and teamwork.
     
    Policy, Reports, and Law:
    Ensure that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies, procedures, and department requirements.
    Maintain accurate reports of daily and monthly financial, production, and activity records.
    Maintain and submit accurate information for payroll reporting (time cards, tardiness, and absenteeism).
     
    Safety:
    Ensure food items are stored in safe and hazard-free environment.
    Establish and enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety following health and safety codes and regulations.
    Maintain safe work environment.
     
    Inventory and Equipment:
    Ensure that appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available through daily orders and periodic inventories.
    Maintain logs on all equipment maintenance required within campus food service department.
    Perform preventive maintenance and report needed equipment repairs.
    Recommend replacement of existing equipment to meet department needs.
    Conduct annual physical equipment and supplies inventory.
     
    Other:
    Help screen, select, and train cafeteria workers and make sound recommendations about the assignment, discipline, and retention of cafeteria personnel.
     
    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Supervise and evaluate food service workers assigned to campus cafeteria.
     
    Equipment Used:
    Large and small kitchen equipment to include electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, oven, dishwasher, and food and utility carts.
